FAQs

Are wood heaters cheap to run?

Absolutely! At Melbourne Woodheating Centre, we offer a range of wood heaters that are designed for efficiency and sustainability. When used correctly, wood heaters can be an economical choice for home heating. The cost-effectiveness also depends on sourcing good quality firewood, and we're always here to provide guidance on that.

Which wood fire heater is best?

The best wood fire heater depends on your specific needs and the size of the space you're looking to heat. At Melbourne Woodheating Centre, we proudly showcase top brands like Jindara, Coonara, and others. Our expert team can guide you through our extensive collection to find the perfect fit for your home.

Where is the best place to put a wood heater?

The ideal placement for a wood heater is in a central location where the heat can be evenly distributed throughout the home, but this may not always be possible - chat with us to find out where the best location is in your home.. It's also essential to consider safety and ensure there's adequate ventilation. Our team at Melbourne Woodheating Centre can provide expert advice on the best placement for optimal performance and safety.

How do I keep my wood heater burning all night?

To keep your wood heater burning throughout the night, it's crucial to use dense hardwoods that burn slowly. Before bedtime, add larger logs, and adjust the air intake to a slower burn rate. If you have any questions or need tips, the Melbourne Woodheating Centre team is always here to help!

How much firewood do I need for winter in Australia?
The amount of firewood you'll need for winter largely depends on the frequency of use and the size of your wood heater. On average, a household might use 4 to 10 square metres of firewood during the winter season, depending on factors like outdoor temperature, whether the heater burns all night, whether family members are home during the day and the insulation efficiency in the home. However, it's always a good idea to consult with our experts at Melbourne Woodheating Centre for a more tailored estimate.
Can a wood heater heat a whole house?
Definitely! Many of the wood heaters available at Melbourne Woodheating Centre are designed to efficiently heat large spaces or even entire homes. The key is choosing the right size and model for your space. With proper placement and ventilation, a wood heater can provide consistent warmth throughout your home.

About Belgrave, VIC

Belgrave is a town and outer suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 36 km east of Melbourne's central business district, located within the Shire of Yarra Ranges local government area. Belgrave recorded a population of 3,894 at the 2021 census. == History == Belgrave is situated in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, part of the land of the Wurundjeri first nations people. Belgrave was first settled by Europeans in 1851. Belgrave was named after an 1840s chapel in Leeds, Yorkshire, England; the name was carried by Mr and Mrs R.G. Benson when they came to Melbourne in 1856. Their sons, the Benson Brothers, settled in the Belgrave district in the 1870s. Though originally the area was known as "Monbulk" for the reservoir that lay near by, the town wasn't known as Belgrave until around 1903, and another suggested name for the town at that stage was Glassford. A Post Office opened in the area around 1904. Many men from Belgrave went to the two world wars, and there is a war memorial in Belgrave. == McDonald's rejection == In 1993, the Shire of Sherbrooke prepared a site specific amendment for land adjoining the Belgrave roundabout to facilitate the development of a 70-seat McDonald's restaurant including drive-through.
