FAQs

Are wood heaters cheap to run?

Absolutely! At Melbourne Woodheating Centre, we offer a range of wood heaters that are designed for efficiency and sustainability. When used correctly, wood heaters can be an economical choice for home heating. The cost-effectiveness also depends on sourcing good quality firewood, and we're always here to provide guidance on that.

Which wood fire heater is best?

The best wood fire heater depends on your specific needs and the size of the space you're looking to heat. At Melbourne Woodheating Centre, we proudly showcase top brands like Jindara, Coonara, and others. Our expert team can guide you through our extensive collection to find the perfect fit for your home.

Where is the best place to put a wood heater?

The ideal placement for a wood heater is in a central location where the heat can be evenly distributed throughout the home, but this may not always be possible - chat with us to find out where the best location is in your home.. It's also essential to consider safety and ensure there's adequate ventilation. Our team at Melbourne Woodheating Centre can provide expert advice on the best placement for optimal performance and safety.

How do I keep my wood heater burning all night?

To keep your wood heater burning throughout the night, it's crucial to use dense hardwoods that burn slowly. Before bedtime, add larger logs, and adjust the air intake to a slower burn rate. If you have any questions or need tips, the Melbourne Woodheating Centre team is always here to help!

How much firewood do I need for winter in Australia?
The amount of firewood you'll need for winter largely depends on the frequency of use and the size of your wood heater. On average, a household might use 4 to 10 square metres of firewood during the winter season, depending on factors like outdoor temperature, whether the heater burns all night, whether family members are home during the day and the insulation efficiency in the home. However, it's always a good idea to consult with our experts at Melbourne Woodheating Centre for a more tailored estimate.
Can a wood heater heat a whole house?
Definitely! Many of the wood heaters available at Melbourne Woodheating Centre are designed to efficiently heat large spaces or even entire homes. The key is choosing the right size and model for your space. With proper placement and ventilation, a wood heater can provide consistent warmth throughout your home.

About Montrose, VIC

Montrose is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 33 km east of Melbourne's central business district, located within the Shire of Yarra Ranges local government area. Montrose recorded a population of 6,900 at the 2021 census.Montrose varies in altitude from about 91 m to 324 m above sea level. Montrose covers an area of 11 square kilometres (2,700 acres).Montrose is situated at the foothills of Mount Dandenong. == History == European settlers initially referred to the area of Montrose as South Mooroolbark, and used the land for farming during the late 1800s. The town was also informally called Double Pitts after the double-handed saw pit method used in the local timber industry. The settlement was renamed to Montrose in 1892 by local landowner James Walker, whose son had a store on Colchester Road, Kilsyth named Rose Mont. A post office was opened in December 1898, and closed in July 1994. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, Montrose was used extensively for orchards, partly due to its high rainfall. In 1911 the population of Montrose was only 133, however residential development increased in the 1920s providing accommodation for tourists and permanent residents. The Montrose Public Hall was funded by the local community and opened in July 1914, on the eve of World War I. A monument for World War I was constructed in 1921, which also became a memorial for World War II in 1947. The population of Montrose boomed after World War II, resulting in many more young families.
